Ignition Tyre and Auto is a family owned and operated workshop on McBean Street in Yeppoon. We started out as the local mobile tyre and mechanical service, and we still are. The difference now is the workshop, the hoist and somewhere dry to pull an engine apart, with the same habit we started with: telling you exactly what we found and why.

What we do

Most jobs on the coast do not split neatly into "tyre place" and "mechanic". We do both under the one roof, from a set of tyres and a log book service through to diagnostics, diesel work and engine rebuilds.

The workshop
Started in the back of a van. Still turns up the same way.
Ignition began as the local mobile tyre technician and mechanic, working out of a van and going to wherever the car was. That side of things has not gone anywhere. We still do mobile work, and the van in the photo is the same one that put the light bar on the Hilux further down this page.
What changed is that the workshop on McBean Street opened, so there is now a hoist, a proper diagnostic setup and somewhere dry to pull an engine apart. It is a family owned and operated business, and between the workshop and the van we cover everything from a set of tyres to a full engine rebuild.
The thing customers keep writing about is not the equipment though. It is being told what is actually going on with the car. One bloke had his clutch done and we kept every broken part to show him afterwards. That is just how it works here.

Safety certificates
We are an Approved Inspection Station
The sign is on the wall by the roller door. It means we are licensed to carry out vehicle safety inspections here at the workshop, so if you are selling a car or re registering one, the inspection and any work it needs can happen in the same place on the same day. No driving it somewhere else and booking a second job in.
Give us a ring before you come in so we can put you in the book and make sure the hoist is free.

Our clutch failed suddenly; we were able to have the car towed straight to the garage, and the repairs were completed in less than a week at a great price! We highly recommend this garage—they are extremely friendly, explain absolutely everything, and kept all the broken parts to show us.
